Entry #2 - The Mortal Instruments

 


        Hello, my fellow Lexi's Corner fandom, good morning or afternoon! Today I thought I would talk about the book series that I have been reading, The Mortal Instruments. Let me start by giving you a little background information. The main character Clary Fray searches for her missing mother which leads her into an alternate New York called the Downworld, filled with mysterious faeries, hard-partying warlocks, vampires, an army of werewolves, and the demons who want to destroy it all. She also finds herself juggling two boys- her best friend, Simon, for whom she's developing new feelings, and the mysterious Shadowhunter, Jace. She joins the secret world of the Shadowhunters and as she does, she discovers that rescuing her mother might mean jeopardizing everything the Shadowhunters work for. 

        Not only does the novel have a very interesting plot, but it also contains a very important theme. The most important theme throughout the book is friendship. Clary and her best friend Simon Lewis have known each other since they were younger and have become closer than siblings. When Clary's mother is kidnapped, Simon is severely loyal and is there for Clary the entire time. Even Jace Wayland and his adoptive brother, Alec Lightwood have one of the closest friendships in the book. They are each other's parabatai, which means that when they are in battle, their hearts beat as one and if one dies, the other literally dies a little bit inside. Their souls are intertwined with one another. This shows that they have an unbreakable bond. 

        I highly recommend reading this book series because it is extremely entertaining and will always keep you on your toes. Whenever you think that everything is going right with the main characters, something goes wrong and they never get a chance to live a "normal" life. There are many twists and turns, especially when you least expect it. Love is lingering in the air, meanwhile, life or death situations are happening. It's all about action and includes many different types of supernatural stuff, so if you are into that then you have come to the right place.

    Hello Lexi, it is awesome that you have found a book series that you find interesting. I haven't been able to find a series that I particularly enjoy but I like to read individual books sometimes on my free time. I like science fiction books when I read so I may have to check out this series! Thanks for recommending!

     Hello world,     Today I want to talk about something that I just found out and was very shocking to me. Y esterday I was scrolling through Snapchat and I came across my sister’s Snapchat story. I clicked on it because her face is familiar to me, but what I saw on her story was something that was not so familiar to me. Entry #10 - Topics in Food Quest

 Hello world, Lately I have been learning a lot about the U.S. food industry and how our food is being processed. I personally do not like our food industry and I think that it needs to change. I hate seeing animals being slaughtered just for our sake, and I am currently doing research on being a vegetarian because I am seriously thinking about becoming one. Not only do I think that killing innocent animals is terrible but there is also an abundance of meat not being eaten by millions of people, which means that a couple of cows’ lives could have been saved. Our food industry produces way too much food and most of it is being wasted. Most of our food is artificially processed now days and we need to go back to times where fresh fruits and vegetables were being eaten all the time. Hello everyone! My name is Alexis Aguilar, but I go by Lexi. I am so excited to start my blog on here called Lexi's Corner ! I am 18 years old and I have lived in Arizona my whole life. I plan on transferring to Washington State University in 2 years though because one, I need to get out of this heat, and 2 it is a very great school. I live with my 2 older sisters, 2 dogs, and mom. We are all extremely close and I honestly can not imagine my life without them, but there are times when I want to move out and get a place of my own you know? Here is a picture of me and my sisters: The oldest, Angelica is on the left, I am in the middle, and the middle child, Anissa is on the right. My parents are divorced but I am just thankful that my parents keep a cordial relationship so that they can keep co-parenting.
