Entry #6 - Halloween Time!

Image
Hello, world! My name is Alexis Aguilar and today I thought I would talk about what we have all been waiting for, Halloween !! Now I am not going to lie, Halloween is definitely not my favorite holiday because I hate getting scared, but I am not going to be a hater you know. There are things that I love about this scary holiday like dressing up as one of my favorite characters, eating as much candy as I can until I feel like throwing up, and just walking around my neighborhood and seeing all of the spooky lights and decorations. I don't go trick-or-treating anymore because I am 18 years old now, my time has come to an end. But that doesn't mean I need to stop celebrating this crazy holiday. If you are not a kid anymore and older like me, there are plenty of things for us to do.      First of all, I plan on dressing up because the costumes that I wore when I was little were more chosen by my mom and not by me, but now I have a job and I can actually go out and buy myself

Entry #5 - Allstate Mayhem Commercial Rhetorical Analysis

Allstate Mayhem Commercial - Dean Winters as Teenage Girl in Pink Truck      YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/vtP-S9OS0o0      Hello, world! My name is Alexis Aguilar and today I would like to talk about this specific Allstate Mayhem Commerical and analyze it to the best of my ability. First I would like to talk about the purpose of the ad, then the society and culture behind it, and then the structure of the commercial. Allstate Mayhem is an auto insurance company, and in this specific commercial, we have Dean Winters acting like a teenage girl driving a pink truck.      I think the purpose of this ad is to make the audience experience what it's like to not have good auto insurance. That if they get into a car crash they are going to go into massive debt because they made the "wrong" choice of not choosing Allstate Mayhem. Therefore, the audience should feel bad and be obligated to switch to Allstate Mayhem. They should also understand that they will be better prote

Entry #4 - Child Care Worker

Today I thought I would write about work. I know I know everyone talks about work because most American citizens' lives are filled with working minimum wage jobs, but I work at a daycare and I feel like working at a daycare is something that is not commonly talked about. Right now I am a current full-time student and full-time employee at Tutor Time. Thankfully, I am managing both my job and passing all of my classes at this current moment, but it is definitely not easy let me tell you that. Many people say that working with kids is the most stressful job ever and I agree with that because it is very exhausting, it requires a lot of patience, and dealing with complaints from parents is the worst. Even though working with kids can be extremely stressful, I can safely say from experience that it is also an amazing experience.         Ever since I was 13 years old I have been working with kids. I would help my mom babysit kids that she would watch at home. I would play with them

Entry #3- An Icy-Cold Experience

Have you ever had something with garlic for dinner or something so strong that it made your breath stink? You have to do something about it right? One day after work I went straight home to change and eat something before I went to class. After I changed I went downstairs and saw that garlic butter chicken was ready for dinner. I brushed my teeth afterward but my breath still smelt like the garlic chicken and I did not like it. I remembered that I had something in my backpack that could help with that.      I grabbed the little thing out of my backpack and removed the wrapper. When I tore it open there were rippling sounds caused by the pops and clicks by creases in the packaging material. It felt like plastic like how the paper feels wrapped around a plastic water bottle. I felt the little pointy ripples on both sides of the wrapper that made it easy for me to tear open. Once I tore it open I felt a small circular object that was hard like a jolly rancher. It looked like a small r
